HELPFUL HINTS FOR CHOOSING AND DISPLAYING YOUR NEW ARTWORK IN YOUR HOME, OFFICE & BUSINESS
THE BASICS: 1. Don't hang a small piece in a large area. 2. The center of the artwork should be at eye level. (I.E. in an office figure the center on the height of the average person in the office not the tallest) 3. Don't hang pieces too high to try to reduce the height of a tall wall. 4. Larger artwork needs more viewing room to be effective. 5. Very large walls require one large piece or a unified grouping that accomplishes the same thing. 6. If you have a large long wall a piece of artwork that is more horizontal (Landscape) is preferred over a large Vertical (Portrait) orientation, and most of the time vice versa. 7. Artwork above a sofa should be hung about 6- 8 inches above the sofa, and should be 1/2 to 2/3 of the length of the sofa. A 60 inch sofa with a 20 inch long image does no good. 8. A arrangement that is symmetrical makes a unified wall (see Door Collection above). 9. If you have images of different sizes. hang them so the middles of the frame sides are the same height. (do not hang them all level at the top or bottom.) 10. Don't hang two very simple graphic images with a very busy and complicated image. 11. One good way to be sure of the sizes you need...just cut out sheets of paper in the sizes and tape them in the area your considering. You will see if you are thinking of the right sizes and how many you might need in a collection 12. MOST IMPORTANT: It's you home ,office or business; exert your personality and find images you enjoy and not ones that match your sofa. There's nothing wrong with matching your sofa; just find images that do so while saying something about the things you love, have seen or hope you can seen someday ! 13. You can mix horizontals with verticals but generally its better in odd numbers...Put the odd one in the middle. For example a horizontal in the middle of two verticals ,or a vertical in the middle of two horizontals. Just remember to level the artwork by the middle of the image!
A UNIFIED GROUPING WORKS WELL ON A LARGE WALL
GROUPING WITH IMAGES LEVELED IN THE MIDDLE
GOOD SIZE FOR BED, LAMPS WOULD BALANCE WALL BETTER.
Always consider how the artworks works with other pieces of furniture in room
